November Wine Club!

MASIA DE LA ROQUA
2020 Ulifel-la, Catalonia, Spain

98% Xarel·lo, 2% Malvasia de Sitges. The Mediterranean climate and rich clay/limestone soils make the area ideal for growing olive trees, almond trees, and vines. Jot Camps, the winemaker, comes from a deep lineage of vintners. He cultivates varietals indigenous to the region and produces wines that will transport. We'd pair this with one of those 'trying to be good' dinners you have before the holiday season beings. It'll bring a little life to the table!

AUSTIN WINERY
2020 Friends With Benefits, Austin, TX

Malvasia Bianca and Albarino are friends with benefits, like the crocodile and the Egyptian Plover. Alone, they are fine and dandy, but together they become greater than the sum of their parts, articulating a complexity that neither grape could on its own. Viognier rounds out the structure and adds weight and tropical notes. The Malvasia shows citrus and tropical components including guava and orange rind. -Winemaker Notes (the only thing we'd add is a spicy Thai noodle dish for dinner)

LA FERME ROUGE
AOG Zaer, Meknes, Morocco

An organic Cabernet Sauvignon, Carignan, Marselan blend from Meknès/Fès, Morocco. Light to medium bodied, delicate aromas of red cherries and rose petals. Cold maceration first, then the grapes are destemmed, followed by fermentation in concrete tanks. All wines are vinified separately and aged in concrete tanks before final blending. This is a bottle for those cozy campfire nights when you're wondering what happened to the sun.

KARIM VIONNET
2020 KVBNs, Beaujolais, France

I thought the man on the label was about to dunk a basketball. It's a wine barrel he's holding... but the bottle is a slam dunk! “Sex, Rock & Gamay,” a phrase on Karim Vionnet’s t-shirt, which unintentionally made a much larger statement about its wearer. He drives three cars, none of them French. He owns three motorcycles but does not have a driver’s license. He is a fan of the heavy metal band AC/DC. He also makes a mean bottle, and we know you'll love this just as much as we did!

RODICA
2020 Sparkling Refo
šk, Istria, Slovenia

The wee hours of November 19 will bring a lunar eclipse (and a blood moon) that we think would pair perfectly with this bubbly bottle. This natural sparkling red is made with Refosco grapes from the picturesque appellation of Istria, Slovenia. Tons of red berry flavors and spices, along with funkier aromas of hay and forest floor. Inky, juicy, amazingly refreshing, with bright acidity and chewy tannins.

MATURANA
2020 Torontel Naranjo, Maule Valley, Chile

Although they lost their family home and vineyards in a 2010 earthquake, the Maturana Brothers focused rebuilding their business around small-batch artisan wines. This example is a deliciously aromatic orange wine with notes of honey, orange peel, white flowers and cardamom. It was aged on the pinkish Torontel skins for 8 months in concrete eggs and shows a little bit of tannin on the finish.

KRASNA
2020 Pink!, Moravia, Czech Republic

A brilliant Rose of Pinot Noir from Moravia, Czech Republic. A delicate pale rose gold in color, the bouquet shows red berry aromas while the palate features intense red and black cherry flavors along with mouthwatering freshness and  a long, clean finish. Note the twist cap, which means you can wrap this in an ice pack and lug it pretty much wherever because who's gonna stop you! The Beach, The Porch, The Party, A Very Discreet Bottle In Purse At The Dog Park.

MEINKLANG
2020 Mulatschak, Burgenland, Austria

"From the vineyard through the fermentation cellar directly into the amygdala, the White Mulatschak plays a hymn of praise for the variety and beauty of life on the Hammond organ. Juicy and mouth-watering, it tickles the mind and inevitably makes you want to share the joy that is internalized to you in a sociable atmosphere." -Winemaker Notes (A FAN FAV for a reason!)
